UMJETNIČKA KOLONIJA

Umjetnička kolonija u Danilovgradu jedina je vajarska u Crnoj Gori osnovana 1972. Već 1974. u njenom radu učestvuju strani umjetnici čime dobija medjunarodni karakter. U toku više od 30 godina vajarskog simpozijuma u danilovgradskom mermeru radili su autori različitih poetika i generacija: Ante Gržetič, Stevan Luketić, Matija Vuković, Pavle Pejovič, Ana Vidjen, Ilija Šoškić, Nenad Šoškić,Sreten Milatović... Nastalo je više od 100 skulptura u slobodnom prostoru. Navodjenje najznačanijih podataka iz istorijata kolonije upućuje na značaj koji u crnogorskom sistemu umjetnosti ima, i ne samo njemu.
Skulptura je umjetnička disciplina koja najviše zavisi od rada s konkretnim materijalom. Savremena skulptura je oblikovanje materijala uz korišćenje različitih pomagala kojima umjetnik može da rukuje zavisno od tehnološkog nivoa sredine u kojoj djeluje, odredjuje je profesor Ješa Denegri. Na sreću, vrijednost ideja i rezultata u savremenoj umjetnosti ne zavise od razvijenih tehnologija i bogatih materijala, naglašava, i dodaje:"umjetnost se radila tim lakše, čak i bolje ukoliko su sredstva rada bila nepretencioznija, pristupačnija,trošnija, efemernija".
Čak i danas, kada u savremenoj umjetničkoj praksi (što je jedna od tendencija) koriste se različiti materijali: nadjeni predmeti, trošni, industrijski, a koncepcija l oblikovni postupak slijede liniju od dadaizma do arte povere,skulptura ostaje skupa disciplina. To je naročito izraženo kod nas sada zbog materijalne oskudice. Tim značajnija postaje mogućnost izvodjenja djela u materijalu,koje ne ostaje na nivou skica, projekata, modela, a što vajarima omogućava kolonija u Danilovgradu. Mermer kao materijal pripada polju klasičnih skulptorskih, medju-tim, brojna realizovana djela nastala u koloniji nijesu lišena eksperimentalnog, istraživačkog. Henri Mur, u tekstu o Djovaniju Pizanu, apostrofira tehnološke performanse mermera. Ističe, da je onaj upravo izvadjen iz kamenoloma mekši za obradu, nego što će to biti kasnije, l tu osobinu koriste gostujući vajari.
U sazivu umjetničke kolonije u Danilovgradu 2003. radili su Velimir Karavelić, vajar iz Srbije srednje generacije i Jernej Mali slovenački skulptor mladje generacije. U Karavelićevoj umjetničkoj biografiji iščitavaju se nagrade za spomeničku plastiku,a skulpture u prostoru izvedene su mu u Londonu, Ljubljani. Jernej Mali je izlagao na reprezentativnim izložbama u Mariboru, Ljubljani, a bio je predstavnik Slovenije na 19. medjunarodnoj izložbi u Veroni 2002.godine.
Karavelić u skulpturi "Veliki Sizif" koristi mitsku matricu u ikono-grafskom kontekstu. Najmudriji i najlukaviji smrtnik Sizif kažnjen je najstrašnijim mukama u Hadu, da gura ogromnu stijenu uz brijeg, a kad stigne do vrha stijena se obrušava u podnožje. To je paradigma uzaludnog posla i božje kazne. Upravo mučenje Sizif a, njegov nadčovječanski napor transponovao je vajar materijalizacijom tijela snažnog muškarca čiji su mišići i koža, napeti i pod pritiskom. U biti to je zatvoreni volumen. Lice nije izdiferencirano već ga zatvara kocka - stijena kao simbol muke. Karavelić u izgradjivanju vlastitog rukopisa koristi neka iskustva Rodenove plastike i secesije, posebno Meštrovića. Izbjegnut je patetičan pokret i stav, mada je Sizif projekcija mitskih i arhaičnih slojeva koji su uvijek živi.
U skulpturi "Arba" Jernej Mali koristi dvije cjevolike forme koje se dodiruju. One samo gledane iz jedne vizure podsjete na Brankusijev "Poljubac", jer se ima utisak naglašenog zagrljaja i topline, u ovoj na prvi pogled minimalistički transponovanoj i realizovanoj skulpturi, gdje su evidentni vizuelno - taktilni kontrasti u obradi "muškog" i "ženskog". Mali je umjetnik savremenog senzibiliteta, odnosno slijedi jedno od najznačajnijih iskustava moderne - ideju o čistoti oblika.
U sazivu kolonije u toku 2004.godine radiće poznati vajar iz Bosne i Hercegovine Mustafa Skopljak, Genadij Buralkin, vajar iz Bjelorusije, i Šaša Stanišić iz Danilovgrada.

ART COLONY

Art Colony in Danilovgrad is the only sculptural colony in Montenegro and it was founded in 1972. Already in 1974 foreign artists took part in its work, which gave it its international character. During longer than 30 years of sculptural symposium, authors of different poetics and generations have been working in marble from Danilovgrad, such as: Ante Grzetic, Stevan Luketic, Matija Vukovic, Pavle Pejovic, Ana Vidjen, Ilija Soskic, Nenad Soskic, Sreten Milatovic ... More than 100 sculptures were developed in free space. Quotation of the most significant data from a history of the colony refers to the significance it has in Montenegrin art system, and not only there.
Sculpture is an art1 discipline that depends mostly on the work with concrete material. Contemporary sculpture is modeling of material by using different tools which an artist can use depending on technological level of the environment where he acts, as defined by professor Jesa Denegri. Fortunately, value of ideas and results in contemporary art do not depend on extensive technologies and rich materials, he emphasizes, and adds: "Art was done even easier, even better as far as resources were unpretentious, more accessible, fragile, ephemeral".
Even today, when different materials are being used in modern art practice (which is one of tendencies): found objects, fragile, industrial, and conception and modeling procedure follow a line from dadaism to arte povere, sculpture remains an expensive discipline. It is specifically accentuated now with us because of poverty. That makes possibility of performing in material which colony in Danilovgrad enables even more significant; performing that does not remain at the level of drawings, projects, models. Marble as a material, belongs to a field of classic sculptural works, however, numerous realized works that originate from the colony are not deprived of experimental, exploratory. Henry Moor, in a text about Giovanni Pizzano, accentuates technological performances of marble. He emphasizes that the one that was just got out of a stone-pit is softer to handle, than it will be later on. And guest sculptors use that property.
Velimir Karavelic, a sculptor from Serbia of middle generation and Jernej Mali, Slovenian sculptor of younger generation, where in the assembly of Art Colony in Danilovgrad in 2003. Karavelic's art biography contains awards for monumental plastic, and his sculptures in space were exhibited in London, Ljubljana. Jernej Mali exhibited at representative exhibitions in Maribor, Ljubljana, and he was a Slovenian representative at the 19th International exhibition in Verona in 2002.
Karavelic in his sculpture "Great Sisyphus' uses mythical matrix in iconographical context. The most wise and cunning mortal Sisyphus was condemned to the most terrible suffering in Hades, to roll a boulder up a hill only to have it roll down again just before it reached the top. That is a paradigm of pointless work and the punishment from the God. Sculptor has transposed precisely the torture of Sisyphus, his superhuman effort, through materialization of a strong man body whose muscles and skin are tensed and under pressure. Essentially, it is a closed volume. Face is not differentiated but closed by a cube - rock as a symbol of pain. In building his own handwriting, Karavelic uses some experiences of Rodin's plastic and secession, especially Mestrovic" s. Patetic movement and stature have been avoided, although Sisyphus is a projection of mythical and archaic layers that are still alive.
In the sculpture "Arba", Jernej Mali uses two touching tube-like forms. They resemble to Brancusi's "Kiss" only from one aspect, because of the emphasized impression of a hug and warmth, in this at first glance minimal transposed and realized sculpture, where are evident visually-tactile contrasts in processing "male" and "female". Mali is an artist of contemporary sensibility; anent he follows one of the most important experiences of Modern - an idea of purity of the shape.
Famous sculptor from Bosnia and Herzegovina Mustafa Skopljak, then Genadij Buralkin, a sculptor from Belarus, and Sasa Stanisic from Danilovgrad, shall be working in the assembly of the Colony during 2004.
